Fast Life of the 21st century, every life in the
hands of the treasury,
You either live in perpetual debt or result to burglary,
The paper chase is never enough and the fight is tough to
hold on to the salary,
Youngsters admiring the lavish lifestyle, big cars, big
phones and all sorts of accessories,
Try to figure out the movement of this generation and the trajectory,
How’s it going to be in the next ten years?
How’s the vision after the next ten beers?
How’s the speed after the next ten Gears?
Hyper speed gliding through the country side highways,
Crazy swerves as we approach the suburbs and dive into the
urban tight ways,
Swayed by fashion and style,
Fake like a Barbie doll smile,
Scarce mentors for the next generation,
Divided and conquered by economic segregation,
Youngsters aspiring for fast money, Hollywood mentality,
More money and less work, more phony and less substance,
Glance into their eyes and all you see is the search for ourselves,
Coloring our faces with exotic hairdo’s, tattoos’ and piercings,
Ladies with shadowed eyes and excessive lipstick, short skirts
are no longer hearsay
But a normal way of life,
A generation trying to cope with emotional strife,
Malcom X, Martin Luther, Tom Mboya and Dedan Kimathi are no
longer our heroes,
Their relevance in our minds is close to zero,
Our heroes are gangsters and Prankster’s,
Masters of illusion, fake personalities on TV scenes,
Fake political promises on TV screens,
The sequence is crazy, the pattern is complicated,
Various versions from analysts, commentators and opinion
leaders,
Different interpretations from psychologists and mind
readers,
Generation waiting for their own messiah to lead us,
Up in arms calling for perceived freedoms and rejecting the
real one,
Looking up to artificial avatars on movie screens, drinking
up urban philosophy
On gossip columns, on social media and TV Forums,
Look for me after half a century to see what kind of quorum,
We’ll have for meaningful relations and discussions,
Until then let’s keep our heads up,
Time will tell whether we made wise choices,
For every action there’s a reaction,
Every action has a consequence for our future generations.
